Enjoy the occasion

  • £3 and £2 entry elsewhere

Academy manager Dean Ramsdale is eagerly anticipating Tuesday’s FA Youth Cup clash against Stoke at Hillsborough (7.00pm).

The prestigious tournament kicks off for Wednesday (7.00pm) with the visit of the Potters and Ramsdale says, first and foremost, the youngsters should enjoy the occasion.

He said: “It’s a great time of year for the lads because the FA Youth Cup is growing in stature each season.

“It’s a good occasion for everyone at the academy and everyone looks forward to it.

“The boys have talked about nothing else for the last few days. It’s a big night for them, it’s a big night for the staff and a big night for the football club.

“You only have to look at the third round game against Crystal Palace last season and that shows the excitement the cup can bring.

“It was 3-3 after normal time, 4-4 after extra time, then we won the game on penalties.

“The FA Youth Cup can create some fantastic memories and let’s hope we can create some more tonight.”
