Glenn Loovens a doubt for Owls

24 December 2014

Skipper Glenn Loovens is an injury concern for the Owls heading into the Boxing Day clash with Blackpool.

The 31-year-old was replaced by Claude Dielna for the final 20 minutes at Fulham last Saturday.

The hamstring injury has left the captain in doubt for Friday’s Championship test against the Tangerines.

Head coach Stuart Gray said: "He’s not trained on Tuesday and we will leave him until the last minute.

“He tweaked his hamstring so we decided to take him off as a precaution.

“He will be touch and go for Friday and we’ll give him a fitness test on the day of the game.”

Meanwhile, Lewis Buxton and Kamil Zayatte are edging closer to their return and Gray is hopeful the duo will be fit in time for the trip to Wigan next Tuesday.

He added: “Buxton and Zayatte are training with the fitness coach and will need two or three days but hopefully they will be ready for the Wigan game.”
