Injury update: Sam Hutchinson ahead of schedule

5 December 2014

  • Sam Hutchinson ahead of schedule
  • Joe Mattock back in full training
  • Kamil Zayatte seven days away

Owls head coach Stuart Gray has said Sam Hutchinson is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a knee injury.

The midfielder suffered the damage during Wednesday’s home clash with Watford in October but the ex-Chelsea man is making good progress.

Gray said: “His rehab is going excellent. He has an appointment to see the specialist early next week and is out running so he is ahead of schedule which is great news.

“Sam will push himself because he wants to be back out there.

“Joe Mattock is back in full training and he will join the squad on Saturday.”

Eslewhere, Kamil Zayatte (hamstring), Lewis Buxton (knee) and Giles Coke (Achilles) are also working hard behind the scenes to make their return to action.

Gray continued: “Kamil is probably another seven days away and Lewis Buxton is doing some gentle jogging at the moment.

“Giles is in a non-weight bearing boot at the moment because of his Achilles injury and will be at least another two weeks.

“Everybody heels differently, Giles has had an injection which will hopefully speed up the process but one thing I do know is that no player wants to be in the treatment room.

“They want to be out training because we have a buoyant atmosphere and everybody wants to join in.

“The important thing is that when players are back, they stay back.”
