Much more to come

Captain Glenn Loovens was delighted to mark his return with three points at The DW Stadium.

Atdhe Nuhiu’s second half header sealed the win for the Owls and the double over the Latics.

And Loovens feels there is plenty more to come from Wednesday.

He told swfc.co.uk: “We can look upwards now, there is only a little gap to the top six and the league is wide open.

“You must always have ambition, we are only six points off the play-offs so why not have a right good go?

“I think we can be satisfied with what we have achieved so far and where we are but I think there is so much more to come from this team.”

The defender missed Wednesday’s clash with Blackpool on Boxing Day due to a hamstring injury but was happy to be back in action on Tuesday evening.

He added: “I’m a bit stiff but I got through the game and I’m just delighted we have taken the points.

“What we need to do now going forward is convert draws into wins.

“We have won four games from our last six and if we carry on like this I see no reason why we can’t make a serious challenge.”
