Opposition view: 'Hardest working team so far'

7 December 2014

  • Wednesday beat Blacbburn at Ewood Park
  • Late Dielna hit stuns Rovers
  • Bowyer hails hard-working Owls

Gary Bowyer has hailed the work rate of the Owls in the wake of Wednesday’s 2-1 win at Ewood Park on Saturday.

Stuart Gray’s side sealed a late triumph with Claude Dielna’s strike from distance, which was the last building block of an impressive all-round display over the Pennines.

Blackburn boss Bowyer said: “They are the hardest working side we have had here this season.

“I think it’s an example of the Championship, anybody can beat anybody, and you have to turn up on the day.

“On this occasion we didn't, we didn't play particularly well.

"It looked like there were too many not at it compared to the standards that they've set, so it is one that we have to take on the chin.”

On the late heartbreak for the hosts, Bowyer added:

“We did it last week at Middlesbrough. So it isn't nice.

"I didn't think it was a particularly good game from both teams, I think the goals probably matched the quality of the game if I'm being honest.

"We were below par, we know that, we have to take it on the chin and learn from it."
