Social media at the heart of the action

2014 has been a huge success for Sheffield Wednesday’s social media platforms increasing its online presence to an impressive 232,000 followers – which is growing day by day!


As well as increasing its following base, for the first time ever, the Owls social media has integrated with the matchday programme to create the ultimate media package for fans.

New for the 2014/15 season the Owls Twitter page asks fans to tweet in their messages of support for the team with the best getting on the scoreboard!

New programme feature, #asktheplayers, invites fans to post their questions to the Owls allowing them to ask any questions they want! A different player is picked each game and allows fans to get an insight into their lives away from the pitch.

On matchday, fans can expect a live stream of updates across all social channels making sure any fan – whether at the game or not – is at the heart of the action.

With each platform serving their purpose, whether that be posting images and quick videos on Instagram, links from the club’s website on Facebook, live updates on Twitter or match highlights and interviews on YouTube, the Sheffield Wednesday media team make sure the fans are the first to know everything!
