Stuart Gray is hopeful there will be no lasting damage to Lewis McGugan after the midfielder was stretchered off at Blackburn on Saturday.
The loan recruit went down following a clash of heads with Lee Williamson and received treatment for around five minutes on the Ewood Park pitch.
But the initial news is good, as Gray reported in his post-match press conference:
“Lewis was knocked spark out and I actually thought it was a foul.
“But my concern was with Lewis as soon as it became clear he was knocked out.
“The neck brace was a precaution and I was really pleased and relieved to see Lewis take his place on the bench in the second half.
“The medical team will give us a full assessment and hopefully he will be fine.”
