The will to win

14 December 2014

Royston Drenthe spoke of his disappointment following Wednesday’s defeat to Wolves on Saturday.

The Owls failed to capitalise on strong spells in the game and the loan ace has said Wednesday must take their chances.

In a passionate post-match interview with the Owls’ official website, he told swfc.co.uk the only thing that can put the reverse right, is a win next time out.

He said: “I’m a professional, I’m a football player and I want to win every game. Even if we’re playing against the best team in the world, I want to win that game.

“I don’t like losing matches. I want to win for my family, for my club, for my team mates and I am only happy when we win games.

“I am down now but believe me, that feeling will motivate me for the next match.”

Drenthe insists Wednesday must convert their good work and chances into goals in order to push on and climb the Championship.

He added: “Credit to Wolves because if we don’t score our chances, then we run the risk of what happened.

“Our defenders can’t always stop everything, we have to score goals it’s that simple.

“Without any disrespect to Wolves, I think we should have won this match but we didn’t and now we have to put it behind us."
