Volunteer coaches awarded for hard work

5 December 2014

Three voluntary coaches for the Sheffield Wednesday’s Community Programme have been awarded for their outstanding commitment and hard work with a special trip to Wembley Stadium.

Coaches Hannah Wright, Jade Richards and Sophie Trotter have been working with the Community Programme and the Premier League Women’s and Girls project to coach the club’s girls’ development team.

To reward their outstanding work, the coaches were given the opportunity to accompany a representative team from the Community Programme who took part in a National Girls’ Under 16s competition.

The girls then went onto watch the England v Germany ladies match at Wembley Stadium and had the chance to meet the women’s Super League mascots and England mascots before the game.

As well as gaining coaching experience the volunteers have used the experience to help with their sports studies at Hillsborough College.

Helen Shepherd, Girls and Women’s Development Officer, said “The girls have been a fantastic addition to the Development Programme. They’re currently assisting with the sessions and I hope that this will carry on throughout the year.

“The girls did an excellent job when they went to Wembley and we were very proud of them.”
