Welcomed boost for Owls ahead of Wolves clash

10 December 2014

Ahead of Saturday’s clash with Wolves, Wednesday are set to welcome back Jose Semedo who was suspended last time out.

As well as the Portuguese ace, loanee Lewis McGugan is recovering well from a head injury at Ewood Park and Stuart Gray is hopeful the midfielder will be available for selection.

Semedo and McGugan are back in the fray but Kieran Lee staked his claim for a starting berth after a fine performance at Blackburn, capped with a goal.

Gray said: “It is a nice position for me to be in. I was delighted with the way Kieran Lee performed on Saturday.

“He got his goal and played the way he did on a consistent basis last season.

“Lewis has done some light training so hopefully he will have no reaction to that. He’s just got a stiff neck but fingers crossed he will be ok for Saturday.”

With the festive fixtures coming thick and fast, the Owls boss says it is vital to have his squad at full strength.

He went on to say: “We benefit when there is competition for places, it keeps players on their toes.

“They know if they don’t perform in training that they have got someone pushing to grab the shirt off them.”
