- Chris Maguire fired Wednesday to three points
- Scot played as a central striker
- Team comes first, says Maguire
A team player – that is how Chris Maguire would like to be seen at Hillsborough.
The Scot was handed a central striking role for the Owls’ Boxing Day clash with Blackpool and responded by slotting the only goal of the game from the penalty spot.
Maguire, who has figured in the main on the right flank for Wednesday, makes no secret of his preferred position but is first and foremost focused on the team.
He said: “It was a bit of a surprise to be asked to play in a central role and hopefully I have given the manager a few problems.
“But for me the team comes first. If the manager decides to give me another run in a central role, that’s fine.
“But if he decide to play me in a wide position, I would take that because I just want to work for the team.”
