Antonio boost for Wednesday

6 February 2014

The Owls have been handed a significant boost with the return to fitness of Michail Antonio.

Ahead of the trip to the Madejski on Saturday, head coach Stuart Gray is delighted to include the ex-Reading man in his thoughts for team selection.

The winger spent four years with the Royals from 2008 to 2012 and is in line to face his former club this weekend, having recovered from a medial knee ligament injury.

Gray said: “He’ll be going back to his old stomping ground so that has given us a lift. It’s like a new signing because we haven’t seen him for weeks.

“The pleasing thing is we’ve had Antonio training with us all week, he’s stayed out on the training pitch and touch wood, he’ll be available for selection on Saturday.

“We had him back for ten minutes in the Blackpool game but he broke down in training the next morning so we have been very cautious with him.

“The most important thing is when you come out of the treatment room, you stay out of the treatment room.

“Hopefully he’s turned the corner and can have a good run to the end of the season and remain injury-free.”
