Hutchinson eyes quarter final spot

24 February 2014

Owls loanee Sam Hutchinson has his sights set on a place in the FA Cup quarter finals.

Buoyed by a terrific win and performance over Huddersfield on Saturday, the Owls face Charlton this evening in the FA Cup fifth round.

The Addicks also gave their Championship survival hopes a boost over the weekend with victory over QPR, courtesy of a Johnnie Jackson last minute strike.

Sheffield United await the winners of tonight’s cup clash and the Chelsea loanee is desperate for Wednesday’s cup run to continue.

He said: “It’s a massive thing for the club and the city to have this cup run.

“All the lads are buzzing in the changing room. Fingers crossed we get a good result.

“We have the chance of playing in a massive derby and then getting to Wembley but Charlton is the key game first.”

Having suffered with injuries during his early career, Hutchinson is now delighted to be back in the game and has certainly made a positive impression in S6.

The Chelsea ace has made two appearances for Stuart Gray’s side and is eligible to feature in the FA Cup.

He added: “Everyone is excited about the cup run but personally, every game is a bonus to me.

“Every game is a final to me.

“When I was injured, I’d lost the love for the game because I never played.

“But I was still working at Chelsea and they said ‘you’re still fit - why don’t you have a go?’ So I came back and six months later I was in the first team again!

“That desire and hunger comes back if you train every day and that’s what’s happening now.

“I’m loving it at Sheffield Wednesday - the lads are great and so are the coaching staff. I’m just absolutely loving it.”
