Ahead of the Owls’ Championship clash against Middlesbrough on Saturday, swfc.co.uk gives the low down on the opposition:



Goalkeeper Shay Given has returned to parent club Aston Villa after a successful loan spell at the Riverside.

Jason Steele (ankle) could return between the sticks after a spell of three months on the sidelines.

The club have further options in goal with Real Madrid loanee Tomas Mejias also in contention.

Lee Tomlin is in line to make his second appearance for Boro having penned a three-and-a-half-year deal from Peterborough.

Defender Daniel Ayala is unlikely to feature at Hillsborough after sustaining an ankle injury earlier this month.



Middlesbrough will arrive at Hillsborough having not scored in their previous six outings.

Midfielder Albert Adomah leads the way in front of goal this season with nine goals but the former Bristol City man hasn’t registered since December.



Mustapha Carayol has netted seven goals this season, Grant Leadbitter is on six, while striker Kei Kamara has four goals to his name but has not hit the target since late October.



Nathaniel Chalobah joined Middlesbrough on loan in late January to strengthen the midfield department.

The 19-year-old on loan from Chelsea had previously enjoyed a successful spell at Nottingham Forest this season, scoring two goals for Billy Davies’ side.

Grant Leadbitter has accumulated nine yellow cards this season and Dean Whitehead is close behind on six.

Emmanuel Ledesma, Rhys Williams, Ben Gibson, Curtis Main and Jason Steele have all seen red on one occasion this season.





Middlesbrough have failed to score in their last six games and have picked up four points along the way with goalless draws against Leeds, Blackburn, Doncaster and Wigan.
