The Owls’ Under-18s hit back from their FA Youth Cup exit with an impressive 2-0 home win over Leeds on Saturday.
Goals from Jonathan Fusco and Mike Conneh secured all three points for Wednesday, who turned in a solid display three days after being beaten by Premiership giants Chelsea.
Coach Steve Haslam said: “We fielded a much-changed team from the one that lined up against Chelsea in midweek and featured two Under-16 players in the starting line-up.
“The lads approached the game with a really good attitude and the enthusiasm and energy they showed throughout the game was pleasing.
“We moved the ball around well with some quality and patience, particularly in the first half, then we stood up to some Leeds pressure in the second half when we had to be resolute and defend our lead.
“The clean sheet was a big plus and one that Joe Wildsmith deserved as he has been excellent this season.”
