Owls face Chelsea test

15 January 2014

Following the Owls’ progress in the FA Cup this week, attention turns to the Under-18s, who face London giants Chelsea in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday night.

The academy youngsters beat top-flight Crystal Palace in a thrilling S6 clash last time out to set up this evening’s tie.

And coach Steve Haslam is looking forward to Wednesday pitting their wits against the pick of the bunch at youth team level.

He told swfc.co.uk: “It’s a game the whole squad and staff are really looking forward to and it gives the players a great opportunity to test themselves against some of the best young players in Europe.

“Chelsea have won the FA Youth Cup and were runners-up up in the past two seasons so, of course, we are aware of their quality.

“But we will go there with a game plan to get a positive result. If we can show the same level of desire and togetherness that we displayed against Crystal Palace in the last round and produce some quality on the pitch we are more than capable of getting the result that our boys are desperate to achieve."

The game takes place at Aldershot FC with a kick-off time of 7.05pm.
