Owls land LMA award

16 January 2014

Sheffield Wednesday have won the LMA Performance of the Week award following the 6-0 win over Leeds at Hillsborough on Saturday.

The League Managers Association five-man panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were in agreement that the accolade should go to Wednesday for the outstanding S6 display.

Stuart Gray will receive a specially engraved crystal football in a presentation to commemorate the award.

Goals from Reda Johnson, Atdhe Nuhiu, Connor Wickham, Chris Maguire and a double from Caolan Lavery secured the memorable win.

After the Yorkshire derby, Gray said: “It was a good result and a good performance.

“We were outstanding in every position and in all honesty, I don’t think you could pick a man of the match because there were so many candidates.

"Not many times during a season do you get the perfect result and the perfect performance. Every player put in an eight or nine out of ten performance."
