Students’ special day

22 January 2014

Students from a West Yorkshire school enjoyed a special day experiencing VIP treatment at Hillsborough.

Pupils of Oastlers School were given an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the stadium during which they visited the boardroom, the changing room and even walked down the tunnel and onto the pitch.

Following the guided tour, the youngsters were taken to the Owls’ training ground, where they took part in training sessions with coaches from the club’s charitable arm the Community Programme.

Sheffield Wednesday’s Community Officer Steven Taylor said: “We were delighted to welcome pupils from Oastlers School to Hillsborough.

“The young learners were a pleasure to work with and a credit to their school – we hope they will be returning to the stadium as fans in the stands very soon.”

The school’s Head of PE Sean Regan thanked everyone at the club for making the visit such a success.

He said: “We are delighted to have formed a unique link with the club and hope this partnership will go from strength to strength in the future.

“After such a great day, we will certainly be visiting Hillsborough again with more of our learners – thank you Sheffield Wednesday!”
