Wickham wins December award

Striker Connor Wickham has won the swfc.co.uk Player of the Month award for December, claiming the accolade with a landslide 72 per cent of the vote.

The in-form hitman has fired seven goals in nine games for Wednesday since returning on loan from Sunderland.

During December, Wickham made four appearances for the Owls – scoring four times. 

The 20 year-old hit a brace against current Championship leaders Leicester to claim three points at Hillsborough in the 2-1 win.

The striker went on to score a crucial goal in the trip to Watford, blasting home a first half free kick as Wednesday registered a 1-0 success at Vicarage Road.

And Wickham rounded off the month with an equaliser at The Valley in the Sunday clash with Charlton.

Connor Wickham – 72 per cent
Jose Semedo – nine per cent
Liam Palmer – five per cent
