Back in the old routine

2 July 2014

Lewis Buxton is relishing the prospect of a purposeful personal campaign – and that means banishing the confines of the treatment room.

Now fighting fit following a knee injury that dictated his absence towards the end of last term, Buxton is hoping extra hours over the summer at Middlewood Road will pay dividends, aligned to a strong pre-season.

He said: “It was frustrating because nobody likes being injured but I am fit now and raring to go.

“I came in over the summer and the physios helped me a lot and now I am looking forward to getting a good pre-season under the belt.”

Buxton revealed that the initial fitness sessions are demanding but wholly necessary if the Owls are to make progress in the Championship through the 2014/15 campaign.

He added: “The gaffer wants us to be right up there in terms of fitness and that’s where we all want to be.

“Yes, pre-season training is tough but it has to be if we want to succeed next season.

“The first sessions are always the hardest but you soon get back into the swing of things.

“The important thing is we are ready for when we kick off at Brighton next month and everything is geared towards that.”
