The Owls academy welcomed back Carlton Palmer to the club last week, as the former Premier League ace took a training session at Middlewood Road.
The focus of the session was simple: fitness and football, as Palmer passed on his expertise during an intense 90-minute session.
In an interview with Wednesday Player, the ex-Owls star said: “I know Ben Wilkinson well because of my connections with his father and he asked me if I would like to come in and do a session with the lads.
“I wanted to give them a bit of an old fashioned session. The workout was all game-specific and it’s hard work.”
He continued: “The game hasn’t changed for me, you can have different opinions and different methods but what is fact is that you can’t play this game if you are not fit.
“If you are not fit you get injured, you can’t play three games a week, you can’t retain the ball and you can’t close down.
“The training session was filled with running, filled with skill and working at a high tempo for an hour and a half.
“I wanted the boys to find things out about themselves and how much they really want to play this game.”
