Jose Semedo signs new Sheffield Wednesday contract

10 July 2014

Jose Semedo has signed a contract extension with Sheffield Wednesday.

The ever-popular midfielder has now joined Stuart Gray’s men for their pre-season preparations.

Semedo initially joined the Owls on a three-year deal in the summer of 2011 after falling out of contract with Charlton Athletic.

The Portugese signed for the Addicks four years previously from European giants Sporting Lisbon and made 150 appearances for the London club.

He proved a big hit at The Valley and ended the 2010-11 campaign as Charlton’s Player of the Year.

Semedo duly extended that popularity at Hillsborough in his first season with the Owls, scooping a host of end-of-season awards including the SWFC Player of the Year, as voted for by the fans, and the Players' Player of the Year.

The 29-year-old enjoyed another productive campaign in the Championship last time out before injury cut short his season in February.

He has made 107 appearances for Wednesday in total so far.
