- Under-18s unbeaten in United tournament
- Haslam pleased with boys' performances
The Owls’ Under-18s took part in a prestigious mini-tournament on Saturday morning at the training ground of Premier League giants Manchester United.
And Wednesday gave a good account of themselves, emerging with two wins and a draw from their three 30-minute games.
The S6 boys held hosts United to a 0-0 draw before beating Bury 1-0 and Carlisle 2-0.
Coach Steve Haslam said: “The tournament was a good experience for the squad and we are grateful to Manchester United for hosting the event.
“The boys performed well, the early stages of pre-season is all about improving fitness and the energy levels of the players was good.
“We are working on installing some principles of how we want to play in and out of possession and although there's things to work on, there was some impressive individual performances and it was pleasing to see a winning mentality developing amongst the group."
