Owls youngsters in the running to land LFE award

Sheffield Wednesday have two entries in the League Football Education’s Goal of the Season vote.

Jack Stobbs and Jack Taylor have been shortlisted to land the 2013/14 prize for their respective goals against Chelsea and Crystal Palace.

Both strikes came in last season’s FA Youth Cup campaign.

Taylor struck home a fierce half volley against Palace at Hillsborough that flew into the top corner.


Wednesday went on to claim a dramatic win on penalties with the sides level at 4-4 after extra time.

The Owls exited the competition at the fourth round stage to Premier League giants Chelsea.

Dean Ramsdale’s youngsters suffered a 4-1 loss but Stobbs’ goal in the game, which took place at Aldershot FC’s Recreation Ground, has been included in the vote.

The strike claimed the LFE February 2014 Goal of the Month award with 40 per cent of the vote.
