Sheffield Wednesday have signed young central defender Ed Sanders.
The 18-year-old Stoke City academy product will join the Owls on a one-year deal.
Sanders spent his formative years learning his trade at Portsmouth up until the age of 16 before a successful trial at Stoke led to the defender signing a two-year scholarship at the Britannia Stadium.
Sanders was a mainstay in the Potters’ Under-18 squad throughout the past two campaigns during which time he captained the side.
He said: “This is a great opportunity for me.
“You can tell after just five minutes of stepping through the door how big this club is and the history that goes along with that.
“Hopefully I can continue to develop and enjoy the experience over the course of the next year.
“With the facilities at this club and the experienced coaching staff, hopefully I can move forward and step up to the mark.
“There is a lot of work for me to do but it’s exciting times to be joining a club as big as Wednesday.”
