Owls hammer Pool

12 March 2014

The Owls posted an exhilarating 6-1 win over Hartlepool in the Central League Cup on Wednesday afternoon at Middlewood Road.

The rampant home side took the lead inside a minute through Mani Dieseruvwe, which set the tone for the contest.

Rhys McCabe swiftly extended the advantage before Dieseruvwe doubled his tally midway through the first half.

Gary Madine got in on the act just before the half-hour mark and to underline that the day belonged to the Owls, Joe Wildsmith saved a penalty before the break.

Rafael Floro gave the Owls a resounding 5-0 lead two minutes before half time and Jack Stobbs concluded matters for the home side after the resumption.

James Poole scored a consolation for the visitors, though, that proved key as the Owls exited the tournament on goal difference.
