Prutton on the comeback trail

11 March 2014

David Prutton is eager to put his injury troubles behind him and stake a claim in the Owls’ midfield.

The 32-year-old has recovered from ankle surgery and featured last week in a Development Squad fixture against Birmingham at Middlewood Road.

Prutton has praised first team physios Paul Smith and Dean Taylor for their hard work behind the scenes in ensuring a return to action for the experienced midfielder.

He said: “Paul and Dean have kept me going. They know exactly what they are doing treatment-wise.

“The rehab has been fun and enjoyable but, by the same token, it’s been hard.

“You have to put hard work and effort into the rehab. Paul and Dean know if they give me something to do that I will do it."

After storing 45 minutes for the Under-21s on Friday, Prutton is keen to make a speedy return to first team action and added:

“It was nice get back out on the pitch again and get some minutes under my belt.

“It was a culmination of a lot of hard work. I’ve probably been getting on everyone’s nerves behind the scenes so I’m sure they’re glad I’m out of the treatment room!

“You can do as much training as you want, but you can only test your body out by going full tilt in games.

“It can be a tad frustrating to sit and watch the team when you would like to be involved but it is just one of those things you have to accept.”
