Having scooped the February Player of the Month award, Chris Maguire is determined to finish the 2013/14 campaign as strong as possible.
Victory over Middlesbrough last weekend saw Wednesday move 12 points clear of the relegation zone and the Scot has played a key role in the Owls’ surge up the Championship.
Maguire has chipped in with vital goals against the likes of Burnley, Barnsley and Reading in 2014 and was pleased to be named as Player of the Month – as voted for by the fans.
He told swfc.co.uk: “It’s obviously really pleasing to be pick up these kind of awards, especially when it’s the supporters - who watch you week in, week out - who have voted.
“I think a number of players in the dressing room could have deservedly won this award because the performances at times have been of a really high standard and we have gone from strength to strength.
“You can see the confidence that we’re playing with and from a personal point of view, I’m playing with a smile on my face, getting the goals and really enjoying my football.
“But we can’t stop there, we’ve got plenty of work left to do and we all need to stay focused and make sure we keep moving in the right direction.”
Wednesday have 14 games remaining this season and Maguire’s primary aim is to keep up the form that has seen the Owls edge towards mid-table.
Yeovil are next up in the Sky Bet Championship this weekend and with the Glovers fighting for second tier survival, Maguire is expecting a tough challenge.
He added: “We know this game will be tough and we have to approach it in the right manner, as we always do. I’m confident we can push on from here, add more points to the board and produce performances for the fans because they deserve them.”
