Sheffield Wednesday starlet Rafael Floro is currently enjoying a productive spell representing Portugal in the Under-21 Toulon Festival Tournament.
The 20-year-old was selected in national coach Ilidio Vale’s squad ahead of the group stage in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of South Eastern France.
A total of ten nations compete in the tournament and are split into two groups.
Upon completion of the group stage, the winner of Group A plays the winner of Group B in the tournament final which will be contested at the Stade Parc des Sports, Avignon on Sunday 1 June.
The runners-up of each group go head to head in the third place play-off on the same day.
Portugal are handily placed to compete in the final having won their opening three fixtures and sit top of Group A.
Floro stored a full 90 minutes under his belt in his country’s 2-0 win over Mexico and 3-1 triumph over Chili.
The Owls left back took a watching brief in Portugal’s 4-1 win over China yesterday but is expected to back in the starting XI for tomorrow’s crunch clash with France, which will decide the group-winner.
Defending champions Brazil have already clinched top spot in Group B and will await either Portugal or France in the final.
Good luck, Rafa!
