Simon Hanna has signed his maiden professional contract with Sheffield Wednesday.
The dynamic midfielder has put pen to paper on a one-year deal at Hillsborough.
Hanna skippered the Under-18 team last season and posted a string of dominant displays in the Owls’ engine room.
He told swfc.co.uk: “I couldn’t be happier. To sign for a club the size of Sheffield Wednesday is a dream come true.
“I have worked really hard to get to this stage of my career and will continue that hard work moving forward.”
The 18-year-old has also impressed on the international stage with Northern Ireland, earning recognition at both Under-18 and Under-19 level.
Hanna added: “I’m proud to represent my country and my aim in the long term is to earn a full cap.
“For now, though, I want to keep listening, keep improving and work towards getting into the first team set-up with Wednesday.”
Hanna joins Joe Wildsmith as a second year scholar to earn professional terms having graduated from the academy in 2013/14.
Franck Betra and Jack Stobbs also successfully moved through the ranks, earning pro contracts ahead of schedule.
