Giles hits Owls landmark

11 November 2014

  • Giles Coke has reached 100 Owls appearances
  • Midfielder joined the club in 2010
  • Seven goals for Coke, including his stunning hit at Brighton this season

Midfielder Giles Coke has surpassed the 100-appearance milestone in his Owls career.

The 28-year hit the landmark earlier this month after over four years at Hillsborough.

Coke joined Wednesday in July 2010 and has scored seven goals in total for the club, including his spectacular strike on the opening day of the campaign at Brighton.

The midfielder spent the majority of 2011/12 on loan at Bury and also had a temporary spell with Swindon in 2012/13.

But Coke – who has previously represented Motherwell, Northampton and Mansfield – fought his way back into contention at Hillsborough and has featured 16 times for Wednesday this season.

He told swfc.co.uk: “It’s an honour to have made so many appearances for this club and I’m really happy with that.

“I’ve had spells away on loan and when you’re away, you don’t know what might happen.

“But I did well out on loan and got the chance to come back here and I’m really enjoying it.

“100 games for one club at this level is a big achievement and hopefully, there will be many more to come.”
