Stuart Gray hailed both sets of supporters following the minute’s silence to mark the 100th anniversary of World War 1.
Wednesdayites and Rotherham fans impeccably observed the tribute, which included a bugle rendition of ‘The Last Post’ by John Harrison.
Gray said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to the supporters of both sides, they were superb.
“It only takes one person to spoil these things and I’ve seen that happen at other grounds but today, everyone inside Hillsborough was outstanding.”
