Head coach Stuart Gray has been impressed with returning striker Caolan Lavery.
As Wednesday prepare for Saturday’s home encounter with Wigan, the striker has edged closer to a return after a strong week behind the scenes.
After hitting a brace for the Development Squad, Gray has been pleased by Lavery’s energy levels on the training ground and said:
“Lavery has looked ever so sharp, if anything he’s like a new signing for us because we haven’t seen him since pre-season.
“He scored two goals for the Development Squad against Chesterfield earlier in the week and he’s trained today with so much enthusiasm. He looks very sharp which is encouraging.
“He probably needed that extra 90 minutes under his belt.”
