Lewis McGugan is delighted with his loan switch to Hillsborough and is looking forward to the coming weeks with Wednesday.

Over the years, McGugan has proved a livewire at this level and enjoyed a hugely productive seven years with Nottingham Forest, where he achieved a ratio of one goal every four games.

That strike rate continued at Watford last season, where he bagged 11 goals in 37 appearances and the midfielder wants to get back to his best and show that kind of form with the Owls.

He told swfc.co.uk: “I’m pleased to sign. This is a great club and a great chance for me to play games and help the team move forward.

“I’ve not played as many games as I want this season so I need to get back out there and perform.

“The main thing is the team and helping them progress. If I can score some goals and help add points to the board, then great.

“I see myself very much as an attacking midfield player and goals have been a massive part of my career.

“I want to bring that to Sheffield Wednesday.”

And McGugan is set for a lively introduction as the Owls face Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield in the live televised clash on Saturday.

Just one point separates the Owls and the Terriers and McGugan is ready to go.

He added: “You can’t ask for a better platform, can you?

“I’m ready and raring to go, whether that’s from the start or the bench, and I’ll give it everything.

“The one thing about this division is that you can go on a run at any time and there is no form guide.

“You have to be as positive as possible and go for it and I’m sure that’s what we’ll see on Saturday.”
