London Owls reach for the Sky!

12 November 2014

Sky Sports presenter and lifelong Wednesdayite David Garrido recently took a trip down Memory Lane in hosting a Q&A for the London Owls.

On the top table were former SWFC trio Gordon Watson, Andy Sinton and Marlon Beresford, who took questions from the floor packed with Owls fans based in the capital.

A nostalgic night was had by all and not least Garrido, who told swfc.co.uk:

“I’ll be the first to admit that I’m very privileged in my job. We get a lot of famous names through our doors at Sky Studios.

“But meeting your heroes as a fan as opposed to as a journalist is something entirely different.

“I started supporting Sheffield Wednesday in the late 1980s and players like Gordon Watson and Andy Sinton were part of a seismic change that gave us our most recent glory period over three heady years, so it was an absolute pleasure to host a London Owls Q&A with those two and goalkeeper Marlon Beresford.

He continued: “One of our best traits as SWFC supporters is our sense of humour, and Gordon Watson embodies that entirely.

“When that dive against Leeds was brought up, cheers and a cry of “YOU LEGEND!” came from the back of the room, and we finished the Q&A with an entertaining quick-fire round.

“Our thanks go to Gordon Watson, Andy Sinton and Marlon Beresford.”

The full story of the evening will be published in an upcoming edition of ‘Wednesday’ – the Owls’ official matchday programme.
