- Development Squad beat Middlesbrough 1-0
- Late Rafa Floro goal sealed the win
- Lee Bullen pleased with tough workout
Despite its billing as a friendly, the Under-21s’ game with Middlesbrough had more than a competitive edge at Middlewood Road on Tuesday afternoon.
Strong challenges flew in from both sides but coach Lee Bullen had no complaints from a contest the Owls edged 1-0 with a late strike from Rafa Floro.
He told swfc.co.uk: “That’s how a game of football should be played – hard but fair.
“We know Middlesbrough are a very strong side and that gave us an excellent test during the break in our league calendar.
“Everyone likes to see good tackles and as long as that doesn’t spill over into anything else, then that’s fine.
“I was really pleased with how our players approached the game and the way they played throughout.
“Middlesbrough probably had the better of the first half but we had the better of the second against really good opposition so I am pleased overall.”
