Positive response

8 November 2014

Stuart Gray was pleased with the response he saw from his players in the stalemate with local rivals Rotherham at Hillsborough.

Gray spoke of his disappointment earlier in the week following the home defeat to Bournemouth.

But certainly in terms of a positive response and application, the head coach saw enough to suggest the Cherries reverse was a bad day at the office.

He said: “That was exactly what I wanted to see from the players when we talk about closing down and getting in people’s faces.

“It was a big game, a derby game and we played on the front foot.

“When you put in that kind of effort, you never know what might happen and we saw that in the first half when we chased the defender down and their goalkeeper sliced the ball just wide for a corner.

“But overall, I though we shaded a very hard-fought game in which their goalkeeper was probably the busier of the two.”
