PRE-MATCH
Stuart Gray: “The most important thing is that a few players had to be hit with some home truths and what a game they have to put things right this weekend.

“They have to stand up and be counted.”

Steve Evans: “Derbies are all about supporters. A derby is Fans’ Day, whether you support Rotherham United or Sheffield Wednesday.

“It’s about going out for a beer that night, it’s about going to the paper shop on Sunday, it’s about going to work for days, weeks afterwards. Local pride always comes into it.”

MEDIA CALL

MANAGERS’ VERDICT
Stuart Gray: “When you put in that kind of effort, you never know what might happen and we saw that in the first half when we chased the defender down and their goalkeeper sliced the ball just wide for a corner.

“But overall, I though we shaded a very hard-fought game in which their goalkeeper was probably the busier of the two.”

Steve Evans: “I thought we got ourselves some great opportunities to score in the game and in periods before half time it was total dominancy and probably the same for a period in the second half.

“We had high energy today, moved the ball quickly, competed for every challenge but we`ve told the players individually that there`s a standard here and if they fall below that standard of work then they go. And that isn't a threat.”
