- Development squad face Middlesbrough next week
- Game could see mixture of seniors and Under-21s
- Lee Bullen hails friendly games as the perfect platform
The Owls Under-21s face their second friendly of the international break next week and Lee Bullen has said the game will provide the perfect platform for both the senior and Under-21 players.
The likes of Lewis Buxton, Kamil Zayatte, Caolan Lavery and Jack Stobbs could well be in line to feature against Middlesbrough at Middlewood Road next Tuesday.
As the Owls quartet continue on their road to full fitness, a run out in the Development Squad will serve the returning players well, as Bullen explained:
“There is a big gap in our 21s league programme so we felt it was vital to arrange these games during the break.
“Our next match is against Middlesbrough and the idea is to get the senior boys some game-time.
“Lewis and Kamil are close and the game will give them the opportunity to feature in a match environment.
“Hopefully we will have Caolan Lavery and Jack Stobbs back available soon.
“Whether they get 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes, it can only benefit them in their bid to return.
“For the Under-21 lads, we want them to play as many games as possible so these friendly games serve more than one purpose.”
