Under-18s miss out

30 November 2014

The Owls’ Under-18s suffered their first away defeat of the season on Saturday, going down by the odd goal in five at Nottingham Forest.

In a thrilling Midlands clash, Wednesday struck first through Mason Duffy but were promptly pegged back by a Forest double.

Warren Clark restored parity before the hosts fired what proved the winning goal.

Coach Steven Haslam told swfc.co.uk: “It was a tough, physical battle against a powerful Forest side.

“I felt we should have defended our box better as each of their goals came from three deep deliveries which should have been dealt with.

“Our general play was quite good, though, we scored a terrific team goal for the second but as the game wore on we seemed to get overpowered a little which is possibly down to the fact that we had six 16-year-olds in the line-up.

“The boys need to bounce back next week now in the home game against Coventry City."
