- Owls lost 3-0 at home to Watford
- Controversial opening goal at Hillsborough
- Sam Hutchinson injured for Wednesday
Stuart Gray lamented a dismal afternoon at Hillsborough that saw Watford emerge 3-0 winners following the second international break.
And the Owls’ head coach recited an old adage when he gave his assessment of a game the Hornets ultimately won with ease.
Gray said: “They say that bad luck comes in threes and I think we saw that today.
“We lost Sam Hutchinson after six minutes and that seemed to affect the whole place for a few minutes.
“Then they scored their first goal which we thought was offside and so too did thousands of others in the ground.
“But they can only give what they see and we didn’t get the decision.
“Then Keiren Westwood makes a very uncharacteristic error for their third goal.
“He’d taken a nasty knock a few minutes before and I don’t know whether that’s affected him but I’m not going to criticise Keiren because he has been outstanding for us all season.”
