Bullen left frustrated by cup loss

21 October 2014

Lee Bullen has spoken of his frustration following the Owls’ 1-0 loss to Hull in the Under-21 Cup on Monday night at Hillsborough.

After Karim Rossi had given the Tigers a late lead, Wednesday squandered a chance to level from the penalty spot when Manny Dieseruvwe missed from 12 yards.

And Bullen said: “I’m disappointed, obviously, because I don’t like losing football matches but I’m frustrated more than anything.

“There were hardly any chances, we gave as good as we got, then they took the lead when it seemed as though the game was going into extra time.

“But we got the chance, we got the penalty and it’s a great chance but we missed it when you just wanted to see the ball hit the back of the net.

“There was a bit of confusion over who was taking the penalty and I’ve had a bit of a go in the dressing room because we have to be more professional than that.

“I had to make the decision from the touchline and it shouldn’t be like that.

“Did that put more pressure on Manny? I don’t know. But what I do know is that we deserved to take the game into extra time but we have come away with nothing.”
