Competition spurs on Maghoma

19 October 2014

Jacques Maghoma has spoken of the importance of performing to the best of his ability week in, week out.

This season, the wide man has nailed down a starting shirt on the flanks but knows if performances dip, there are players waiting in the wings.

Owls head coach Stuart Gray has food for thought ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Brentford, with Royston Drenthe, Hallam Hope and Jeremy Helan pushing and Chris Maguire back from suspension.

Maghoma told the SWFC official website: “Hopefully I can keep contributing to the team.

“When you’re on the pitch, you have to fight to keep that position.

“We have a lot of quality here and I know I have to be at my top level in every game, otherwise there are players that can come in.”

Following defeat to Watford on Saturday, Wednesday have a chance to bounce back immediately with a trip south in midweek to Griffin Park.

The winger continued: “I know I have to keep working hard and perform week in, week out. I can’t be complacent. There are no complacent players in this group.

“Just a squad who want to perform at their best for Sheffield Wednesday.

“Hopefully I can keep my shirt and produce for the team.”
