Haslam takes the positives

20 October 2014

Owls Under-18s coach Steven Haslam praised his side’s defensive qualities but rued a lack of shooting opportunities following the goalless draw with Cardiff on Saturday.

In a game dominated by midfield possession, both teams struggled to break each other down, with the result being the second of its kind in a row for Wednesday.

Haslam said: “The positive thing is another clean sheet, that’s six on the bounce now, which is a real achievement.

“"I think we faced a good team in Cardiff City, they've had some positive results of late and they knock the ball around really well at times.

“But we were really disciplined again and kept our shape well, and by in large we were really difficult to break down.

"Our attacking play let us down a bit. We didn’t create enough, which will be our area of focus before our next game against Huddersfield."

The Under-18s face the Terriers at Middlewood Road on Saturday 1 November.
