Keiren Westwood pleased with performances

4 October 2014

  • Westwood outstanding in Yorkshire derby
  • Man of the Match performance at Leeds
  • Keeper lifts Player of the Month award

In-form goalkeeper Keiren Westwood spoke exclusively to swfc.co.uk following his Man of the Match display against Leeds at Elland Road on Saturday.

Westwood kept Wednesday in the derby contest with a string of outstanding saves, earning praise from head coach Stuart Gray.

And the Irishman says the seamless way in which he has settled into Hillsborough has played a significant part in his current pedigree:

“I can honestly say I have just settled in so quickly here. Everyone has made me feel so welcome, everyone is friendly and that helps any player at any club.

“I am happy with the way I am playing and pleased with the saves I made at Leeds but disappointed that we didn’t win the game.

“But it’s a good draw from a derby game and we can go into the international break with another point on the board.”

Westwood has also impressed the Wednesday faithful having scooped the September Player of the Month award last week.

He added: “That’s the one that makes me happy because it comes from the fans.

“They are the ones who have seen me play week in and week out so to receive the award was really pleasing.

“I’d like to say thank you to everyone who voted for me and also to the lads because the team will always come first.”
