  • Jose Semedo says Owls must make home advantage count
  • Wednesday host Norwich City on Saturday
  • Portuguese ace optimistic for the rest of the season

Owls midfielder Jose Semedo has said Wednesday must make home advantage count.

After gaining a hard-fought point at Brentford on Tuesday, the Portuguese star wants three points from Saturday’s S6 affair.

Wednesday have lost just twice in their last eight Championship outings but Semedo says the draws must turn into wins, with particular emphasis on results at Hillsborough.

Ahead of this weekend’s clash with Norwich, he told swfc.co.uk: “We have to try and do our best to make this place difficult for teams.

“We need to make teams fearful of coming here and that’s something we haven’t done yet.

“But there are a lot of games to play and we will get better - that is for sure.”

But improving home form is not the only aim for Semedo.

The ex-Charlton man believes Wednesday are now firmly established in the second tier after promotion in 2011/12 and wants to take the next step forward and challenge much higher up the division.

“It was tough in our first season at this level but we survived and now we are moving forward,” he said.

“We will only get better. I think we are an established championship side.

“But now we are established, the natural step for us is to challenge near the top.

“We are in a good position, with a good team. The last couple of seasons in the Championship have been difficult ones.

“But this year I believe we can do something special.”
