May's time will come

16 October 2014

Stuart Gray is certain that Stevie May will not have to wait long before earning his first Scotland cap.

And when it comes, the Owls head coach believes it will be the first of many.

The 21-year-old received his first call-up to the Scotland senior side this month and was an unused substitute in their Euro 2016 qualifiers with Georgia and Poland.

Gray said: “It will come for him. I know with the quality he’s got that he will break into the Scotland side.

“The call-up he’s had will give him the confidence and once he plays, it’ll give him even more.

“It’s probably the pinnacle of your career to represent your country.

“But when it comes for Stevie, we don’t want it to be one cap, we want it to be several.

“That’ll show he’s in good form for Sheffield Wednesday and that he’s scoring goals.

“It’ll show that Gordon Strachan has the same faith in him that I do.”
