Owls midfield man Sam Hutchinson faces a period of around two months on the sidelines.
The combative 25-year-old picked up a knee injury in the early stages of the Owls’ clash with Watford last weekend.
Scans have revealed the extent of the damage and head coach Stuart Gray said:
“Sam saw the specialist yesterday and it’s not good news. It’s not his old injury, it’s a new injury in the knee.
“The specialist has examined Sam and we’re probably looking at a time scale of around two months.
“At first, Sam feared it was his old injury but it’s going to be a while getting him back.
“Players don’t want to be in the treatment room, so it’s disappointing but that is the hand we have been dealt and we have to get on with it.
“Our thoughts are with him and we wish him a speedy recovery.”
