Owls set for Elland Road clash

2 October 2014

The Owls travel to Yorkshire rivals Leeds on Saturday and this fixture has not been short on the entertainment front in recent meetings.

There have been no fewer than 13 goals in the past four meetings but of course six of those came last time out at Hillsborough.

Wednesday ran riot and cruised to a 6-0 win back in January 2014.

In front of the Sky Sports cameras in the lunchtime kick-off, goals from Reda Johnson, Atdhe Nuhiu, Connor Wickham, Chris Maguire and Caolan Lavery (2) sealed an emphatic win for the hosts.

Leeds striker Matt Smith, now of Fulham, also saw red just minutes after his arrival in the second half.

The reverse fixture earlier in the season – which was also televised – finished 1-1 and provided the Owls with their first point of the 2013/14 campaign.

Kamil Zayatte opened the score in the 36th minute but Leeds got back on terms after the break through Ross McCormack.

Wednesday Player will have live match commentary from Elland Road on Saturday and swfc.co.uk will deliver in-depth pre and post-match coverage including; team news, match reports, photo galleries, videos and much more!
