  • Owls add key duo to off-field team
  • Paul Bell and John Redgate appointed
  • Pair bring wealth of industry experience

Sheffield Wednesday are pleased to announce the appointments of two key new figures at the club.

Paul Bell and John Redgate have taken the roles of Chief Operating Officer and Finance Director respectively.

The experienced duo bring a wealth of football industry knowledge to Hillsborough.

Paul was Director of Commercial Affairs for almost five years at Leeds United and delivered the highly successful Commercial Partners Programme whilst generating premium sponsorship revenues at Elland Road.

Working with major national and global brands, he grew the club’s hospitality base to its highest level since Leeds’ involvement in the Champions League.

Prior to Elland Road, Paul enjoyed a four-year stint at Portsmouth as Commercial Director, implementing innovative sponsorships with the likes of Canterbury of New Zealand, Ladbrokes, Air Malta and TUI Travel.

John, meanwhile, joined Portsmouth as a financial consultant in 2010 to assist the club in its exit from administration before being appointed Chief Financial Officer and becoming a board member.

He was also a Trustee of Pompey in the Community, playing a major part in the South Coast outfit lifting the Football League’s prestigious Community Club of the Year award in 2012.

During his time at Portsmouth, John was responsible for key areas of the business including cost efficiency and management of legal and regulatory issues. In addition, he was involved in player transfer negotiations, working closely with the Football League.

John is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years’ national and international business experience.

Owls chairman Milan Mandaric said: “I have always stressed the importance of introducing and working alongside genuine football people at Sheffield Wednesday.

“The additions of both Paul and John will significantly strengthen our off-field operation and I would like to personally welcome them to Hillsborough.

“I wish them every success at our club.”
